Start early in impressing on all going that they do not go for
recognition, appreciation, to feel good, or help “poor souls.”
They do these things as a response to God's grace. Appreciation, if
given, is just a bonus. Sometimes the people will resent or distrust
those that come in to help. This shouldn't matter to us. Expecting
appreciation and warm fuzzy feelings is just paternalism.
