A simple way of allowing for personal sharing that is
non-threatening is to start each youth group meeting with a “thorns
and roses” (“one good thing, one bad thing”) for the week. Each
youth around the circle is to say something, but make it clear that
it doesn't have to be anything too serious.
Although 90% of the items will be shallow that is all right,
it allows for those who have something significant to share without
being put on the spot.
Keep things moving, some kids just like to hear themselves
talk.
Everyone should say something, but they don't have to have
both a thorn and a rose.
