dividing up a group into teams

1. Each time you divide up a group do it on a different criteria: by height, hair color, birthday, first name, middle name (“NMI” if they don't have a middle name), distance from the church that they were born...
   
2. Having them line up by some criteria but silently which makes lining up a game in and of itself.
3. Randomly give out colored candies that color their tongues, then divide them by tongue colors.
